As a manufacturer of products sustaining the doors and walls of a structure, it makes sense that InPro Corporation help sustain our natural environment through environmental stewardship.
Our Sustainable Business Practices Team, a committee that considers numerous ways InPro can make improvements in environmental sustainability stewardship, focuses on three areas: Green Building Materials, Corporate Culture and ROI Projects.
InPro launched BiopolymerPETG+ Blend, the green building product line that uses corn-based plastic and recycled content, and took a bold step away from fossil-fuel based plastics for door and wall protection products.
Cultural change was achieved through raising awareness of environmental stewardship, such as turning off lights, recycling batteries and cell phones, encouraging carpooling and switching to all-electronic payroll, which eliminates paper paystubs and checks. One key event was Earth Day 2010, which became a one-day celebration and educational forum, capped by the planting of a tree at InPro University, the company's day care, which will now be an annual event.
InPro proves that being a green company can help companies save some "green" with a tally of about a dozen initiatives that will return a net savings of $155,828 in 2010 alone. These projects included installing low-flow toilets, replacing grass with a no-mow Wisconsin prairie and installing a high-speed garage door to save on heating. Year two savings are estimated to total $213,748, which will roll forward after that.
