The 30th Annual Design Awards competition by Modern Healthcare singled out the Scripps Prebys Cardiovascular Institute in La Jolla, Calif., for recognition as a Bronze Award Winner. The competition seeks to advance the concept of a healing environment.
Design Awards judge Rulon Stacey said this project was his choice to win the contest. He described it as having a “visually stunning exterior” as well as a “convenient” interior whose layout promotes staff efficiency. “California is a decade ahead of everyone in requiring value," he said.
Opened in March of 2015, the 383,000 sq. ft., $456 million center is dedicated to advanced heart care. The new 7-story tower features 108 inpatient beds in private rooms, 59 intensive care beds.
