A new year means that color leaders are announcing their 2020 color of the year. Pantone announced Classic Blue (19-4052) as the featured color of the year. “A color that is elegant in its simplicity. Suggestive of the sky at dusk, the reassuring qualities of [Classic Blue] highlight our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.”[1]

Similarly, Sherwin Williams selected Naval (SW 6244) as the color of the year. “[Naval] is a rich navy that creates a calm and grounding environment infused with quite confidence.”[2]

You will be hard-pressed to find anyone that doesn’t like blue. It’s such a familiar and agreeable color. Research shows that blue is also calming, contemplative and quieting. In its deep iteration, like navy, blue offers depth, comfort and classic decadence.

We all need grounding, quietude and familiarity. That’s what deep blue represents and that’s exactly what most of us yearn for, especially in these busy and unpredictable times.

Inpro follows the color trends and ensures that their color palettes reflect those nuances. We have been noticing this trend and have introduced many products that embody or coordinate with the blue family in response. For instance, our 2020 Shield textile patterns and drapery were selected in response to this trend, and our 2020 Centered Collection also acknowledges this design style and offers new color palettes to work with.
