Inpro’s Greenbuild Booth to Feature Custom-Built Tiny House

Wednesday, September 21, 2016

MILWAUKEE (Sept. 21, 2016) – Inpro®, a global manufacturing company, will have on display in its Greenbuild 2016 trade show booth a custom-built tiny house to demonstrate that tiny actions can create a huge impact on the world. The house incorporates various Inpro products with a wide range of sustainability attributes and showcases the company’s commitment to becoming more sustainable, both in business and in the community.

The structure was built by Utopian Villas, a Wisconsin firm that specializes in tiny house construction. After Greenbuild®, it will be donated to Occupy Madison, a small, sustainable community of tiny houses for homeless individuals. Its value will be spent to expand the facility's kitchen, washrooms and total acreage to build more homes.

“We go to great lengths to create products that not only perform exceedingly well, but are also manufactured in an environmentally and socially responsible manner,” said Amanda Goetsch, Sustainability Manager for Inpro. “That being said, we believe that striving toward a more sustainable future is about more than just products. It’s about people, too. That’s why we are acting on our sustainability principles through many diverse initiatives, including donations like this one. We know that every effort, no matter how small, can have a major positive impact on our community and beyond.”

To highlight its sustainability efforts, Inpro has created a comprehensive sustainability report that focuses on three pillars: people, planet, and prosperity. It also offers lifecycle assessments on a majority of its products, and provides health product declarations as an illustration of the potential human health impacts of most of its products. Beyond products, the company participates in biodiversity projects, such as its bee farm, and community projects, like its “Green Apple Day of Service” in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council, and an Earth Day 5K in partnership with The Nature Conservancy of Wisconsin.

For the trade show project, Inpro partnered with Utopian Villas, another local company that adheres to a sustainable philosophy.

“At Utopian Villas, we recognize that sustainability is at the core of the Tiny House Movement," said Mandi Barnhart, who handles marketing and media relations for the company. “Smaller dwellings require fewer materials and use less energy and water than a conventional home. By partnering with Inpro, we have the opportunity to showcase their environmentally friendly products and also educate more people on the benefits of ‘going tiny.’ Many of our customers choose to upgrade their Villas with sustainable materials and products, and we’re excited to have a local company that can provide those for us.”

The tiny house incorporates numerous Inpro products with sustainability attributes, including draperies, receptor and shower surround, a Shield® Shower Curtain, Aspex™ Wall Art, a bedspread, and more.

Our organization was formed in response to the lack of services and other issues that revolve around homelessness in Madison,” explained Bruce Wallbaum, Board Member for Occupy Madison. “We came up with the idea of building tiny homes and housing them in a small village within the city. We are incredibly grateful for this donation, which will go toward expanding our infrastructure, ultimately supporting our self-sustaining community model and enabling us to add more homes to the village.”

Inpro invites Greenbuild 2016 trade show attendees to visit its tradeshow booth, #1927, to see the tiny house in person and learn more about the company’s sustainability initiatives.
