The Story

The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) sought to refresh the elevator interiors in the UCCS Union, aiming for a cleaner, more modern look that would stand up to heavy student and staff traffic. Without a designer involved, the university took the lead in selecting the style and finish, ultimately choosing Inpro’s Columba cab style in Barrel Oak for its balanced combination of durability, warmth, and contemporary appeal. KONE, the elevator contractor, partnered with Inpro to bring the project to life. The first two elevator interiors were installed in February 2023. After seeing the transformation firsthand, UCCS returned to KONE to upgrade an additional four cabs—three in June 2024 and one more in April 2025. The university’s confidence in the solution was driven in part by the longstanding relationship between Inpro and UCCS, with Inpro helping guide them toward a cohesive, future-ready design for their ongoing renovations.

The Result

The updated elevator interiors achieved a welcoming, high-performing look that supports the daily demands of campus life. The Columba style paired with the Barrel Oak finish delivered the warm aesthetic the university preferred, while still providing the durability needed for a busy student union environment. With each installation phase, UCCS reinforced its trust in Inpro’s craftsmanship and consistency—resulting in a unified, elevated experience across all six cabs.
